I have a good amount of buddies still stationed all over the world. Now, Christmas isn't a big deal for me, but it's a great time to get together with family and have a great time.

I hear people complain about the dumbest shit every day, and one of my friends posted on facebook about how happy he was to be able to watch his son open gifts over webcam from Baghdad.

Thanks men/women. I've been there, done that, and it sucks. Thinking of you while I get hammered tonight!

Most of the troops I served with are dead, homeless, five times divorced or just scraping by between bouts of manic and depressive.

I thank them all from the bottom of my heart for their service because without them we would surely not have even that sliver of what we used to have.

I'd like to give them an all expense paid trip to the good ol' US of A.
And let them stay permanently.

Since that's not possible, I'd like to hire a couple of more divisions so they can rotate out faster.

Been there, done that too many times as well. It sucks, but we couldn't do it without them.

A merry Christmas and happy holiday season with many thanks for those serving our country and away from home.

When I was a single submarine mechanic in the navy, I would often take the duty on the holidays for my division to let those with family enjoy the holiday properly with their family. It felt like the right thing to do.

Many thanks to those serving overseas. Not all get to celebrate Christmas. I know my platoon didn't. We wrapped up being up for about 48 hours doing missions at 1500 Christmas day and promptly went to sleep.
