Hey guys, dunno if this is on topic, but since it's about hardware, i think it is :) Anyway, i remember a post last year about this guy who was able to get an athlon 600 and a motherboard for it from AMD for only 200 bucks because he worked at compusa. Does anyone know if amd still has such a deal with compusa and other stores? If you can provide a link to it, i'd appreciate it.

Well, You might check around on AMD's site and look for reseller programs- they have a couple of (free) membership sites where you can qualify for special promos.
I'm hoping they will have one soon for the Tbird/Duron

No, that deal ended long ago. AMD has had at least two limited time deals for computer salespeople at participating stores, though historically non-employees have been able to cheat AMD by posing as employees of one of those stores. The last promotion was an AMD 650 and Gigabyte mb for $200 shortly after the Athlon became available, and it was a mess because a huge number of people scammed AMD and legitimate people (like my roommate) had to wait a long time for theirs. Odds are AMD will either check employment status or offer something less compelling for their next promotion.

If you do think you qualify for those types of promotions then contact your store's AMD rep for more info :)
