Cobra has decided to stop doing SETI. He has had his name removed from the Top Users List. He has expressed great displeasure with continued speculation that he is ?cheating?. His account has been verified time and again by officials with the Seti At Home Project. All of his SETI work has been perfectly legitimate. Since his name no longer appears on the Top Users List (at his own request) I will no longer be keeping up with the Top Users in the World. 🙁

So, if his WUs were officially verified, then whats the problem? Were people continuing to accuse him of cheating?

 
Well, that really sucks! :|

Yeah, his production is pretty incredible, but we've seen the pictures of the servers he's got access and FULL-PERMISSION to use, and once you realize that then it's easy to see.

This is a GREAT LOSS to the SETI@Home project! 🙁
 
It is like when playing Quake III online. If you are doing better than someone else on a consistent basis, that person will say you are cheating at least half the time. People just cannot be satisfied thinking that someone else out there might be able to do better than they do. 🙁

That really sucks. He would have had the number one spot no problem, it was only a matter of time. 🙁
 
Some people stink! :disgust: I think they should worry more about themselves than others!

Cobra, don't let them get to you. I think you should crunch on without your name in the list so people will leave you alone and you can still persue the project like you want.

Well I still vote for trying to get the mods to let him post again. As I said before whether he is producing for us or not (or even producing at all) once a member always a member!
 
Sorry to hear that Tim, some people really just don't understand 🙁

It's the same with CS as well, the top people in the server are always accused of cheating, even when they are not 🙁

That sucks big time, for him, for us, for S@NL and most importantly for the seti project. Tim has done more for the project than any other individual I know of. I'm sorry to see you go CobraIce 🙁
 
People from other teams going to the SETI@NL Forum and speculating about how he crunches so many WU's, and probably some dipsh!ts going so far as to e-mail him calling him a cheater. 🙁

Same type of mentality that assumes anyone of wealth is evil, and should be punished for their success. Instead of cheering the achievement, they denigrate the achiever. There is no greater loser then those who are so racked with jealousy that they must compensate for their inadequacy by dragging down others.

I'm no fan of Cobra (nor is he of me), but these kind of people make me want to puke.

This is a sad day for SETI, Cobra has done an amazing amount for the project. It's also a sad day for S@NL, I'm sure, to lose their biggest member and someone who's always great to have around.
 
Well I hope he does reconsider, he really should keep blasting along, since he has the 'blessing' of the Seti officials, let the jealous people muttering along the sidelines soak in their own envy stew.
 
Wow, it is a sad day for SETI. I can only hope that the allure of the project will one day bring him back. In the meantime, happy trails and good luck in whatever you decide to do now, Cobra.

It is sad that some people simply wil not believe the truth & look for any reason to knock down others. I hate to see this, and hope that there is some way that CobraIce can get back in the game.
 
Boy, this sucks. I SURE hope all of the I D 10 TS who kept accusing Cobra Ice of cheating are happy, they drove a GREAT SETI cruncher away! :| Best of luck in whatever other DC project you may try, if this hasn't turned you off of them altogether. 🙁
