Speaking of tech sites that are either dead or dying...

Disdain for Taylor Swift can from a multiplicity of reasons. Two of which are misogyny and generational disdain.

The Swift article is one blip compared to other articles relating to Cybersecurity, AI, or hacking.
Yes, no gives cares about CPUs or water coolers now. But then again, isn't the criticism of youth is that they are the next batch of socially ignorant society ruiners?

Contrary to the chagrin of stale old men, teenage women are actually very good predictors of profitable and good musical acts well before they reach the point needing to become old to gain respect. Indeed, the first to accept the Beatles are not the magazine showering praise on them now, but the lost thoughts of grandma and great-grandmas when first arrived on the scene and they had obsessive-to-naughty about them right then and there in the 50s and 60s.

Uh, I'm pretty sure the complaint is that his go-to tech news site has an article about Taylor Swift's presidential endorsement on it.
Still kind of a daft complaint, IMO, because it's probably in their interest to appeal to multiple interests in the modern era.

A torn mind indeed.

That's quite the rambling tangent.

Right, I should expect and want to see this pop culture political mashup news on Taylor Swift and her endorsement of Kamala Harris on a once predominantly PC hardware News site that catered 100% to my interests. I should be happy they attempt to cater to a broad audience with content I don't give two shits about.

You, dear sir, are part of the problem by accepting it.

Part of the problem!!!1!!1one!1!!

I don't accept it because I don't patronize that site, and I'm not a sir. I suggest you send them a most strongly worded letter, ending with "PS: I am not a crackpot"
In this era they can hardly count upon the business of fucking NERD-ASS NERDS gentlemen like yourself to sustain their income, so they'd best intersperse content appealing to broader tastes to try and keep more eyeballs for longer.

And yet you persist engaging fucking NERD-ASS NERDS on forums of a rotting corpse PC hardware tech site that catered to fucking NERD-ASS NERDS.

You could easily go to Discord or Reddit in a, let's say, Taylor Swift off topic section.

There would at least be more posts there with intersperse content appealing to broader tastes to try and keep more eyeballs for longer.

LOL, you're a touchy little thing, aren't you? Wake up on the wrong side of the swamp today, Shrek?

We heard you love cilantro. So we joined.
My evolved ability to be able to taste the soapy bitterness of cilantro is not limited to my sense of taste. It extends into my sense of vision where I have the ability to feel a soap-like sting when viewing questionable content online. Very much like when actual soap gets into your eye.

Since nakedfrog is less evolved and lacks such gene, he views Taylor Swift and "breaking" movie recommendation content on a PC tech site to be fresh and welcoming. On the other hand, I see that and a stinging burning sensation washes over my eyes.

I have a feeling many in ATOT aren't really PC hardware enthusiasts. It's a mystery as to how people ended up here.
Forums. It's always about forums. I don't give too many fucks about reviews or benchmarks of hardware. I want to hear what's working for users in the field, and get a consensus of what the cool hardware is. That was more in the past though. I don't care much about computers anymore. I stuck around cause I got used to it, but I still look up hardware on occasion, and it's still the opinions of daily users that matters to me.

Last time I tried to build a rig, it was vaguely frightening - somewhere between the 60s Hammer horror movies and some questionable tartar sauce.

It wasn't too hard to adjust i suppose. The problem is that you have new uncertainties that might bite.

There aren't many Taylor Swift articles on there, either by searching or the News section. 7 in the headlines by search. 3 pages worth total that might mention her in the respective articles.

AI was used to make it appear she went for the other side...which is a legit concern regardless of the politics. Soon, the real and the fake will become very hard to discern.

Musicians diving into politics is not uncommon. Two, musicians leaning towards the relative "left" of the culture is not abnormal either, as Beethoven(Napoleon before N went Emperor) and Mozart(his sister not having any further career as a performer) had such leanings. Musicians having to sell and censor themselves to righty fans is also quite normal, i.e censoring the Marriage of Figaro for nobles and an Emperor.

Tech Report went in the shitter when Scott Wasson left to join AMD. The forums are still there, but not active at all.

He's still active with members of his old forums. I saw on X that he organized a gathering with them over the Summer.

Waiting for Anand to do the same for us.
