Kill'em all....

lol j/k.

My idea is why doesn't the government run a 15 second ad on TV telling people in a very commanding, serious voice that the only way to lose weight is to EAT LESS and DO MORE!

There are millions of people who want to lose weight, but all you see on TV are pills and useless devices that won't work in a million years. There should be an ad that basically makes people want to eat less and move more. Basically make them understand the problem in a very short, concise, and loud way.

The ad would run something like this:

The first 5 seconds: pretend it's an infomercial. So start the ad with your typical "do you want to look like this".... and show pictures of fit models....

The next 5 seconds: tell them the right way to lose fat: eat less calories and burn more calories every day. This needs to be done in a "boot-camp", strict kind of way.

The last 5 seconds: squeeze as many diseases caused by obesity in the last 5 seconds, including pictures if possible. Just show people that obesity is not a trivial issue.

or if you don't want to be to graphical/scary just tell them that obesity is the cause of many problems and make them understand that food causes an addiction that takes over their bodies and minds, and that they need to free themselves from that addiction.

I think this commercial would motivate many people to get off their asses.

A similar commercial can be made about smoking.

Everyone knows if you eat less and work out you will lose weight. Infomercials works because people will ALWAYS look for the easy way out, no matter how many times they are told there is NO easy way out.

Also, do you really think a stern message is going to help people quit smoking?

What about skinny people who eat too much salt and have high blood pressure? Or people who smoke and get cancer? Or alcoholics with liver disease?

It's not even about losing weight if you are worried about health care costs or the like. Sure fat will always be stigmatized, but an active fat person is usually healthier than a non active skinny person.

Shocksyde's Fatbuster Plan:

Tell everyone Arcadio is coming and they'll run for miles in order to escape.

Crepe: Pancake or baby blanket? Discuss.

Genius!!!

Similar ads could be made about drug abuse and crime so we could get rid of them for good. Why didn't someone think of this until now? Arcadio, I think you have saved America *waves flag*

Then 95% of the members of this forum would be banned..

Really? I didn't know, but it's obviously a good idea. I'm just tired of all the informercials.

If nobody will do it, I will make this commercial and post it on youtube. Seriously.

In fact, that's exactly what I'll do.

I could deal with that, if you were included in the 95%

You always think you have the most mind blowing ideas, but you really need to keep them to yourself because they only make you look dumb.

The problem with getting in shape is that "only way to lose weight is to EAT LESS and DO MORE" is not actually as useful advice as you'd think it is. It would be like if your kindergarten teacher ran in the room and said YOU LEARN TO READ BY READING!!!!!! and then ran back out. There is a lot of complexities to what to eat and how to eat and how to get in shape. People tend to overlook these complexities when insulting others yet do them subconsciously if they are infact healthy, fit individuals.

If the government funded a device that could accurately track calories on a person on a daily basis, then that would be a real useful device. Have it trigger a small alarm when it's hit a specific calculated limit by also calculating current exercise patterns and muscle mass, etc. Or if the government funded a show that actually was about honest healthy living: reviewed real devices, reviewed meals, discussed various techniques, etc. Debunked health myths. That could also be much more useful than a ridiculous 30 second commercial. It is a shame none of these things are occurring though.
