Speaking of gambling - hit two tris on the Breeder's Cup

The win pools on even the first races were over 1 million bucks. The amount of money bet on this day is insane, almost like the Derby.

It's always the best day to go to the track. Any horse can win. Every horse is just so good. It was a hoot to watch the analysts jock the "horse to beat in this race", and that horse rarely even placed.

1500 dollar tri.
500 dollar tri.
300 dollar exacta.

A good day at the track. 🙂

mmmmmm, Churchill Downs. It was absolutely PACKED and this was for off track betting.

just one of the payouts....that tri was 3500 bucks.

Anyway, next year the breeder's is running at Churchill Downs. If you're new to racing, check it out.

???
🙂

Tri = trifecta - picking the running order of the horses in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Exact = picking the running order of the horses in 1st and 2nd.

Both are in a single race.

does nobody outside of KY care about racing? It's some of the most fun you can ever have.

I assumed the trifecta, didn't know the exacta...what's the superfecta?

pick the running order on a single race 1-2-3-4.

Pays anywhere from 1000 bucks to 1.8 million (reference the 2005 Kentucky Derby)

A wager in which the first four runners in a race must finish first, second, third or fourth.

that would be a box.

2 dollar super box = 48 bucks.

4*3*2*1

You're basically making 24 bets on a combination of 4 horses.

You can really bet a tri or super anyway you like.

1 and 2 with 3,4,5,6

or

2$ part wheel trifecta on 1 and 3,6,7 with ALL

What matters is the "pool" and how much money is bet on that bet (to WIN, PLACE, SHOW, EXACTA, TRIFECTA, SUPERFECTA), vs how many winning tickets there are.

I left with 2000 of their money.

Here's the real question, are you up or down for your career? 😛

Probably up about 2300 for the year.

I have to claim all of this stuff so I have to track my wins/losses for tax purposes.

A good day at the track is winning enough to cover all your bets plus hotdogs and beers.
A really good day is hitting for over 500.

A bad day is not cashing a single ticket and being out 300 bucks.
