DirecTV really tries to bend over backwards to keep you as a customer, don't they? I just called and got NFL Sunday Ticket for 50% off, RedZone (free), Starz for 6 months free, and a $10/mo credit for 12 months on my bill... just by asking nicely.

(Yes, I knew NEW customers get Sunday Ticket for free... I'm not a new customer.)

Who's bringing the chips and beer on Sundays? I'll be praying to the Hail Mary, thanks.

I went with directv this year but in the process, as I was shedding my services with time warner, I demanded a further discount on a service I had no intention of dropping and did not receive it. I called again a couple weeks later and demanded it again and got it, saved $10/month on my internet just for asking!

They offered me basically the same package, but almost $40 off a month (for 12 months) and NFL Sunday ticket for free. I still went with Time Warner, I got sick of the TV not working when it snowed, and Time Warner gave me DVR for free (Directv had a monthly cost for single room DVR). Also I like not having a contract, Directv wanted another two year commitment.

That's not to say I have anything against Directv, for most of my near a decade with them I was pretty happy, and I'm certainly going to miss the NFL channel. But for me the competition had a better option.

You're more than welcome to come over. Nice thing is it'll still be warm here late in the season. It might not be a very fun drive though.
