Speaking of boycotting the RIAA, what about radio?

I think it's a great idea that we boycott the RIAA. My anger and hatred to them knows know bounds as does their greed and stupidity. But for those who are fully opposed to the RIAA, there's a simple way to affect them even more and get your point across. Boycott all RIAA affliated radio stations. Yep, you heard me right. Find out if there's a station in your area that plays good music and is not RIAA affiliated. If not, find ways to preasure them into fighting the RIAA or just not giving airtime to their songs and more airtime to independent groups.

Now, many would wonder how you would go about knowing if a radio station is RIAA affiliated. Simple answer. If more than 50% of their music is RIAA affiliated music, then yeah. It's a RIAA affiliated station. The best hope for making them change their music to anything non-RIAA is to either boycott them and get all your friends to as well, write them letters and petitions explaining why you've started a huge petition to make people boycott their radio station, and don't say things like "Because riaa is dumb" because that won't work. Use the facts. Heck, if you want to, rub a few old wounds they have that are courtesy of RIAA. I'm sure RIAA has somehow ganked them many times and there are plenty of open, festering wounds from it. Use those to your advantage.

If Airtime on all of RIAA's songs suddenly starts dropping off in favor of Indy and other non-RIAA music, it will hopefully give them the final clue they need to figure out why their sales are going down above and beyond the obvious which they seem to continue to ignore.

Hmm, the only worthwhile modern rock radio here is KROQ, owned by ClearChannel, and is probably THE most powerful radio station on the west coast. I don't think they'll give half a sh!t.

At least there is now a flat fee for all music played on the air. Since I work in radio and can understand the pain stations went through in order to play popular music, this makes me happy.

I don't think I've ever lsitened to a radio station that was pro-RIAA, even though they mostly play music on RIAA labels. Hell, the DJs on the radio station talk about downloading music that isn't out yet cause they can't get an early copy of the CD.

Unfortunately we have to pay outrageous fees to broadcast over the internet. :|
