I'm watching the news and they are talking about things that have happened over the past year. They are interviewing a teenager in Iraq and he speaks perfect english.

If the people of these foreign countries hate the US so much, then why do they learn our language.

I've seen this elsewhere also but that story made me wonder about it.

English our language? AHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!

Oh the ignorance of this country :(

EDIT: Mosh beat me to it, but most Iraqis are thankful for what the U.S. has done.

When did English become an American only language?
OP, you are a moron.

And why do you asume that all Iraqi's hate the US? Maybe you can generalize a little more.

Obviously so they can swear at us in a language we understand.

American English IS the official language of the United States.

Yes, it is also the official language of other countries (Canada, Britain, etc).

EDIT: It is also considered the language of commerce.

The language is called ENGLISH not AMERICAN.

Might give you an insight as to who came up with the language...

Ignorance overload!!! This will not end well for you teck

what exactly did you expect the response to be, OP? That we'd all jump in and bash foreigners for wanting to speak 'our' language?

I take it that you have never travelled outside the US, much less your trailer park, yes?

English is the second language of choice among almost all countries. Speak to a native-born person from Germany, Finland, or the Netherlands and you'll find their English is better than most Americans'. Did you know that in India and China the children start learning English around 5 or 6?

I think a better question would be: Do you (the OP) speak a second language at all? Why does an Iraqi teen speak English so well when most Americans are unable (or simply do not care) to learn a second language?

OT: Anyone notice how in songs in foreign languages they still use English swear words like "fvck"?
