For under 250, what are the best speakers for a computer used by a guy who loves music and plays a lot of games?

Yes I have heard the Klipsch simply rock.

However, when I built my computer I didn't want to spend $250 on speakers so I bought the Boston Acoustics BA4800 I think. Something like that...its a four point surround sound unit(4 satellites and a subwoofer) and cost me about $170(w/ shipping). They are great speakers! I have heard that the Kilspch are probably the best bang for buck but if you want to spend a little less the Boston Acoustics are great! Very crisp and clear sound and the subwoofer can put out an insane amount of bass, and the speakers can easily get loud w/o distortion or anything. I've never heard the Kilspch so I don't know how they compare, but a review I read awhile ago at Gamespot said that the Boston's were close to the Klipsch for sound reproduction.

Anyways, I am extremely pleased with them so they get my recommendation!

I'm guessing you're talking now about the Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000 Digitals, which is a 4.1 speaker system (4 satellites, subwoofer). They're great speakers, but still well below par when compared to the Klipsch ProMedia v.2-400's, which everybody's raving about above. ;) The ultimate high-end speakers: VideoLogic Sirocco Crossfires, MSRP of about $450. :Q

Last time I checked the ProMedias and Crossfires were not too available in retail outlets, you'll have to check their respective manufacturer websites. Additionally check out 3DsoundSurge and look in the Reviews sections for details on all of the above. (I'm not in any way affiliated with the aforementioned site.)

Hmm. Is there new URL code with this forum update? Interesting...

You can get promedias from outpost.com, klipsch.com, Dell, or Compaq. So there are some retailers that have them.
