I found this speaker and was wondering if anyone got this and was it good?

I kinda like the clear sub and the 2 speakers, I'm just looking for a 2.1, nothing big or anything, don't like wires going all over the place
 
What do you want from the speakers? Do you want to use it for just system alarms, "you got mail" alerts etc? Or do you actually want to listen to music, play games, and watch movies?

Are you looking for something that is phenominal sounding, great sounding, good enough, or economy.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 if you want something that sounds pretty good. This is as good as you can do without breaking into buying bookshelf speakers and a receiver. For cheaper, you probably could find a decent pair of logitech speakers or cambridge soundworks speakers.
 
Looks like you missed your chance for these but maybe that's for the best judging by a couple responses.

If your budget is ~$50 those logitechs would be a fine choice.
 
"Klipsch, if you don't mind the price tag." NOT! Better try Acoustic Energy Aego 2.1, you won't find any better even in the price range up to 2000$ and more. I've heard them at my friends home and went all green of envy 🙂
 
OT - beongs in the Peripherals section.

I would bet that those Logisys are far more image than substance...

There is a 2.1 set of Altec Lansing speakers that cost around $70. that sound very good - they are the replacement for the ATP-3 model.

The set has the tall thin satellites with 3 drivers in each satellite - two real tweeters (1" or less in diameter - for those who don't know) and a mid in the base of each satellite. Very musical.

Yes, what are you going to use this for? It's easier to figure out if speakers are 'good enough', if you know what you want out of them. One extra feature I like is the headphone out on the speakers.

Most speakers have the same amount of wires running around, depending on how far you want them from the pc.

I suggest, if you get the chance, to go to a local computer/speaker store and do listening test of speakers. Not all quality is related to price, sometimes cheaper speakers may surprise you.
 
the logitech's are fine. just check fatwallet or hotdeals forum for a sale on them, usually from amazon

i have a set of altec lansing ATP3 and i love them. but lately my new pair of sennheiser HD-497 has been getting the love =)
 
You can either spend each year or so some 100$ for crap that you'll dislike the second you connect them or buy a good all-rounder speaker system for 500-1000$ once and enjoy their sound for the rest of your life. The choice is yours, IMHO the second choice is way better both for your ears and your wallet. Oh, and BTW to all posters here suggesting crap like Logitech, Klipsch, Altec Lansing,... you really don't know nothing about sound and are just suggesting what you feel is good based on the looks of such systems and a fact that they are some 20$ more than generics - not their sound! I mean, c'mon guys, you really haven't heard Hi-Fi system EVER!

$2000 w/ synthetic marble

For two grand I could easily get a nice 15wrms class A tube amp, a tube pre-amp, a pair of mini-monitors, and a nice Dayton Titanic MKIII 10" powered sub

Why would anyone buy a new set of $100 speakers each year?

I also don't think that most people who go out and buy a $1000 system are going to use it for the rest of their life. If someone is willing to spend $1000, their interest is apparent and most likely they're the kind of person who is going to be buying another system a few years down the road (or at least upgrading parts of it as they go).

I think spending 10 to 20 times his original budget is a great way to be "better for his wallet" :roll:

I do however think that buying a set from logitech, Klipsch, etc. is better than buying generic crap. No, they're not great, but they're better than most sets in their price ranges.

Just because someone is asking what a good $50 or under system would be and we give him acutal suggestions doesn't mean we haven't heard something better.

I wouldn't suggest someone buy a $2000 computer system if they're just going to use it for browsing and e-mail.
