You've picked good speakers for that price point. 5.1 is more for gaming and movies, 2.1 is more for music. Better quality or surround sound... up to you to decide which one.

Also if you can try and have a listen to them before you buy them in a local shop.

My budget is 100$ Max, however I don't want to go any fathert than 5.1 since I don't know how i'll incorporate 6.1 or 7.1 in my room =(.

Ok is the quality somewhat good with 51 though? Cause if it's all static and stuff then I'm going with 2.1

I'd go for the much better Z-3's and if you want to expand you can always add more (ie 5.1's 4.1's later)when the budget allows!

Well, quality is all relative, right? =) The z640s definitely won't give you "all static"... there are lots of people that are happy with them. If you want 5.1 now, go for them, but if you don't need it, then it might be better to get the z-3's... they seem really cheap after rebate too. For less than 100 you could actually get both. lol

Z3 sucks, go read any reviews. They aren't much better than the Z640s, which also suck.
If you plan on hearing any sound over 8000Hz, I wouldn't recommend getting the Z640 tincans...
Get the Altec Lansing 251 for $39.99 for crisp highs.
Logitechs have much more powerful bass though. If you like big powerful bass and mids with no highs, then go for the logitechs
If you like a nice balanced sound, get the altecs..

I'd actually fork out a little extra and get some truly nice speakers..
M-Audio 2.0 StudioPro Monitors for $122
