I got some speakers, Logitech stereo system for 15 bucks, so its relatively cheap, but it gets the job done--or should. However, a while back, my motherboard needed its sound drivers patched before I could actually get any sound out of my computer. With everything max'd out before the patch to the sound drivers, I only got a little ping--even with everything maxd out. Then I downloaded some Asus drivers, and the sound is MUCH imrpoved, but when I'm sitting on the couch several feet back, the sound isn't as good. And I know it isn't the speakers, because I have seen them demonstrated and they boom--it has to be some sort of restriction still being imposed.

I had some older speakers that I thought were the problem previously, so I got the new ones, but found they were not helping, and it was a motherboard issue.

Motherboard: Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe

Any tips?

probably should post in the A/V & HT forum. However, you should realize that the room has a huge effect on what you are getting from the speakers. If you sit in the center of the room, you get the worst sound do to the build up of destructive interference from room mode related frequencies and their harmonics.

Until you can describe your problem better and with more detail, I cant really offer you any other thoughts.
