Is there some way to adapt the plug on my computer speakers to the tv or vice versa? I want to get some speakers for a tv next year but I live in a college dorm and I don't want to clutter the place up unecessarily so I wanted to use the same set of speakers. Is this possible?

Connect the TV and computer to an A-B switch. Connect the speakers to the switch, and then change sources as desired. You can get such a selector switch at any Radio Shack.

You can also run a line-out from the TV to your computer's microphone jack. This will allow the speakers to get mixed audio from both your computer & TV. However, most sound cards will only passthrough the audio when the computer is powered on.

a simple audio splitter should do the trick if you want / don't mind the sounds to be mixed

they're usually marketed as a solution to share music/mp3 player output (or even personal video/media player/whatever) but it will work in reverse

might have to get another adapter for the TV's audio output, not sure on what connections you'll have to work with...
