[Speakers] S/PDIF, hissing noise

I set up my new Klipsch GMX D-5.1 speakers. Using the supplied minijack to RCA cable for digital coax input, I hear a hiss when the cable is plugged in... I suppose it is either the sound card (Turtle Beach Santa Cruz) or the cable itself...

Does anyone have suggestions to get rid of the hissing noise? It is a quiet hiss but does not change volume with the output volume... I can hear it on any volume except when muted!
