I recently built my computer but has no speakers. So my question is, should i purchase the BA4800 speakers and keep my onboard sound or get cheaper speakers and a PCI sound card as well???

BTW the onboard sound is the Creative CT5800, AC97 codec

If your onboard sound works fine for you go ahead and keep it, i'd personally get the speakers if I were you. But if it sounds like crap on the speakers, you could pick up a Live Value for dirt cheap in FS/FT.

Get some speakers. The CT5880 isn't at all a bad sound chip, pretty clean output signal comes for free. It's hardware sound and also supports 4 speakers.
Good speakers will make the difference, poor speakers are garbage even on the best sound card.
Another thing, make sure you disable AC97 audio in the bios, the CT5880 doesn't need the software codec and I was having some problems with it enabled.
Hope this helps;)
