Hello everyone. I'm in a small house with the rest of my family, and I need something new for listening to music, games, and the occasional movie on my computer. I am looking at a couple different options. Two are the Altec Lansing 2100 or 621 speaker systems (not enough room for 4.1 or 5.1). Also, Newegg has a good deal on some Sennheiser HD497 headphones - only $50, or HD500 headphones for $90. The rest of my setup is not so high quality right now (old crappy speakers, onboard realtek alc650 sound, koss ktx/4 headphones). What do you think I should do? BTW, I only want to spend around $100 at most.

See if you can find yourself a set of Labtec Pulse 424 2.1 speakers (2 satelittes and a subwoofer). They used to retail for $50 and are supposidly the best $50 ever made. You may have to look for them used though, because I don't think they make them anymore. I've read many reviews and they are said to be incredible for the money. I have the most awesome speakers (Logitech Z-680) but can never crank them due to my family (wife and three little ones) so I often have to rely on L-O-W volume or headphones. Picked up a set of Labtec Elite 840. Sound great, comfortable, and are reasonably priced

Headphones are good if you play FPS - it's much easier to pick up sounds with them IMO. I play a lot of Natural Selection and switching to headphones really helped my game.
