speakers on laptop

I recently bought a new computer, and it came with a nice set of speakers. So now, I have a set of old 5.1 creative speakers that are just sitting there.

Is it possible to use it w/ my laptop?
how do I do that?

What laptop do you have? Chances are, unless it has built in support for a 5.1 speaker configuration, you'll need to get either an adapter box, or PCMCIA sound card, to feed the speakers.

all I know is that it is an hp(forgot the model number), but it doesn't have any holes to plug in the speakers.......only has holes for microphone, and headset....so I may need to get some kind of adaptor right?

what are those things called?

holy crap....I thought it would be cheaper, maybe 20 or 30 bucks...nevermind then...guess I'll let my speakers sit in the dust for a whle.

thanx.

Well, a bit cheaper would be the audigy2 nx product. That's still at $85 though...

You could try connecting up part of the system, make it a 2.1 system... That should be easily supported by even a laptop.

yea....so just did the 2.1 thing...sounds good....just 2 front speakers and 1 sub...if only I can get the 2 rear speakers too...haha...it's ok...better then nothing.
