Speakers: Logitech 680s? Gigaworks? or Promedia Ultra?

I have a Audigy 2 ZS; so does anyone have favorites? This will be 50% Gaming, and 50% music.

I'd limit my choices to the Klipsch that are in that price range (pro-media ultras?) or Creative Gigaworks. A lot of people complain about hiss with the 680s, indicating either a low quality amp or succeptibility to interference - or both. The megaworks use 1-way satellites iirc - no tweeters. For that matter the 680s may as well.

I second the Klipsch suggestion.

Despite the price, they are quite simply the best on the market (I have owned 3 diff sets). I am still trying to find people who have the gigaworks to see what people think of them.

Both are around $200. Both should sound pretty good. I guess it would come down to your needs but I went for the Logitech because of the flexibility Z-680 provides with multiple inputs like SDPIF and coxial, built-in Dolby Digital and DTS hardware decoding, and the use of regular speaker wires. All these things were important to me so Logitech Z680 at $200 was no brainer for me.

I have the S700 (5.1) Gigaworks. I love them, but I don't have anything to compare it to (Klipsch Ultras or Z-680s). Movies, games, music all sound great on them in my opinion.

I would recommend the Megaworks 650(?) 6.1 system over the 550 myself. I would also recommend the Gigaworks over them. My recommendation would be for the S700 Gigaworks, as they are cheaper than the Klipsch's and should offer comparable quality.

I just got the 680's and they rock!
There is a slight hiss, but I've heard with enough bugging
you can get Logitech to resolve that.

Klipsch was my first choice, but I ended up going with the Logitechs.
and I use mine for the same stuff you do....gaming and music....these baby's blow
most house speakers I've heard!

Anything but the Z680s. They have hiss built into every set, according to the Logitech rep I spoke with after I'd listened to my 3rd set with the "new and improved" firmware. The sub is also way too boomy - not accurate at all. The satellites were decent enough, and I originally bought them because they did Dolby decoding (I was running Soundstorm at the time) but there are just too many glaring defects in the speakers to consider them... IMO.

If the Gigaworks/Megaworks speakers are anything like the $30 2.1 PC works speakers I have in my room, you'll be very impressed.

was looking to buy speakers for my new audigy zs platinum pro and was having trouble deciding between klipsch 5.1 ultras, gigaworks s750, and the logitechs. I found retail places in town with demos of s750 and klipsch but could not find logitechs set up anywhere but best buy (can't tell in big area with tons of other noises). i didn't really notice any difference between gigaworks and klipsch ultras, except maybe the bass being deeper with the gigaworks (probably due to sub firing down on the wooden floor vs. klipsch firing to sides). i went with the gigaworks for no reason other than the 7.1 to go with the audigy since i still could not decide after hearing them. very happy with them at home, though the downstairs neighbors might complain any day

I have heard that the Gigaworks are just sheer power in terms of sound, very powerful. The Logitechs are right up there also. I would get the Logitech's if I were you. The new Klipsch's are very good also.

I've never been left wanting more volume out of my Gigaworks. I can't say the same for even the rather expensive shelf system I had or the system I had in my car before they got stolen (die crackheads), which was dual 10" subs, aftermarket amplified fronts & rears, and an aftermarket HU. Volume isn't everything though, and the sound quality from the Gigaworks is excellent as well. I've no doubt that multi-thousand dollar setups sound better, but it's leaps and bounds above the shelf system I used to have hooked up to my rig.

Klispch ProMedia Ultra on one pc and the other two have Logitech. I prefer the overall sound of the Klispch. All are using Audigy's

No doubt in my mind that Klipsch outperforms logitechs any day of the week.

However, price does factor into it for some people.

The gigaworks also seem to be an excellent competition to klipsch, especially with the 7.1 setup and inclusion of a remote.
