HI,

I currently have Logitech X-530 speakers. Although they are 5.1 set I never really used them properly... kept all speakers in front of me most of the time. Now I'm thinking about getting a new set, but the market for mid-priced PC speakers is awful... most of the recommendations today I heard about 5 years ago when purchasing the prior set.

What I want is a clearly sounding 2.1 set, not overly powerful, maybe just as X-530. Not too much bass, since X-530 is oversaturated with bass on everything but lowest. I want clear mid-range and a full sound. Price should not be (much) higher than 150€. So I took a look at Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021. What do you think about this set? Is it a worthy replacement? Can I get better value from something else?

I have a set of Altec Lansings 2.1's (AC 45) they have a powered sub woofer anf the sound quality is still amazing. I don't do gaming just listen to allot of music and watch Hulu, etc.. I don't think you can go wrong with this brand.

150 Euro?! How much do Klipsch Promedia 2.1s go for where you're at? I would spring for either those or the M-Audio AV40s.

Sadly, while the older Altecs still kick ass (I have a few ACS45s and ACS48s in use at the folks), the newer models are kind of lacking.

Thanks for your suggestions. But all of these are very old models (ACS45s, ACS48s, Klipsch Promedia 2.1s) and I have practically no chance of getting them locally. What I'm more interested in are newer models. M-Audio AV40s seem interesting, I've got to research more on them. So far I think they're for audiophiles (don't mind) and are only 2.0.

Are Logitech Speaker System Z623 any good (better than x-530)? They look similar to 5.1 set Z506, except being more expensive.

Huh, I thought the Promedia 2.1s are still a current product. Can buy them brand new at a few places, at least here in the US.
