Speakerphone modem will not work.

I have a 3com us robotics 56k winmodem and a soundblaster live xgamer sound card. I can't set it up to where I here sound through the modem, to the sound card and out to my cambridge speakers.
I have the cable connected to the speaker output on the modem and to the line-in on the sound card.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
