I'm renting a house right now, and have setup an "entertainment" room. I'm running the cables across the floor right now, and people keep tripping on the cables. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to route them another way, so they aren't laying exposed across the floor is. Any advice? The easier the better, since I'm renting the place, I'd rather not do anything too extensive. :p

A) run them through the walls **probably not an option seeing as it's not your house
B) run them under the carpet
C) buy longer cable to run along the edge of your door trim and staple/attach the wire to the wall edge

Lowe's and Home Depot carry cable channeling. They're plastic tubes that match the wall paint. You run your cables through them, then fasten them onto the wall along the base boards and door jams. Got my entire apartment wired with 'em. The hide the wires and blend into the wall, so they're not real visible. It's definitely the best way to do it until you own your own home. :)

I got a rubber strip at Staples made by GE for 13 bucks that is, I think, 6 or 7' long. You can cut it to the length you want. Anyway, I have no problems running speaker wire, Cat5 cable, and coax cable through it. It's black rubber and makes a little hill that you can walk over or even roll things across it. Works great!

If the run is over 25 - 30 feet, and you can work it out, the very best way to do it is to run line level out of the preamp to power amps located close to the speakers. If that isn't practical, and you can't get the wires under the carpet, tack them above those doorways. That will mean the wire run is a lot longer, so use the heavy speaker wire you posted about, before. :)

What kind of guitar is that? When I come to visit, I'll bring my 1970 Martin D-28. It'll be even better if you have a piano. :)

What do you mean, you're not expecting me. We're having a suprise party, and the biggest suprise is, it's at your house. Chill the drinks, and fire up the barbeque. See ya in a couple of hours. ;)
