Speaker System And Sound Card!

I have the ABIT IC7 MOBO. It has a integrated sound card: 6-Channel AC 97 CODEC on. The speakers I am thinking about buying are the Klipsch Promedia GMX D-5.1 Personal Audio System plus another free sub woofer. I might change my mind cause I read a lot of forums on ATech and everyone were saying there not that great. So I'm a bit skeptical. Anyways What I need to know is Do I need a high quality sound card? I was thinking about getting the Sound Blaster Extigy or Audigy 2 Platinum EX Something high quality, but I'm not sure how much different the sound will get. Will the sound get THAT much better or is it a waste of money? And if anyone can tell me better speakers than the Klipsch Promedia GMX D-5.1 Personal Audio System for around the price of 100-300 bucks please tell me!!! I want to build my PC asap.

I'd say in that price range you can get the logitech z680's and even the promedia 5.1's (330),
both of which recieve better reviews than the GMX's. As for the sound I have no idea how your
onboard sound is. Get the speakers first and then see if they sound good enough for you. If not
the only reccO on the soundcard i can offer is get the Creative Audigy2 Platinum (doubt you'll need
the EX version). The Audigy2 as compared to my TBSC is very clean and crisp. The combo, my promedia 5.1's
and my audigy2 platinum are amazing.

in any case, good luck.

Er...ok. Save up then? or maybe the logitech z640 + turtle beach?

What about Kplisch Promedia 5.1 (non-GMX) with Sound Blaster Extigy? Or The Logitech Z-680, I heared those hiss.

Easy Math:

Logitech 560Z or 680Z if you prefer 5.1, and add with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 OEM.

btw I have the 560Z + audigy 2 combo, it fvcking rocks!🙂
