Looking for some cheap quality stands for my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. I saw these Atlantic speaker stands at amazon, but it doesn't seem to fit without modification based on the manual and online posted pics (let me know if i m wrong about this if you own a set).

I am hoping to find speaker stands that are:

• Around $30
• Stable stands that is secure on carpet
• Can extend about at least 40" or more

I use these with my Promedia speakers. They didn't work with the speakers by default. I had to leave the pedestals on the speakers and use a bolt, nut, and washer through the hole in the back of the pedestals to make it work. I wanted the speakers to be flat forward instead of angled up, so I had to do some further modifications to the pedestals.

The stands work well, but they're really light-weight and not the most stable things in the world.

I actually found some brackets that I could use to attach the speakers to the to the stands at the home depot last night. But, I discovered that one of the speaker wires aren't long enough.

Do you guys know where I can buy quality 16 or 18 gauge speaker wires with mono plugs on one side? I am a total newb and I have no idea how to solder it myself.

there are screw terminals under the sleeve which screws off.
its hard to mess up
or you can simply look at the others and learn t o solder

I think soldering is probably my only option. I went to Frys and Radioshack to see what they had, and that is pretty much all they had. Thanks for your advice and Karlith's, I will go checkout some guides.

I meant that I visited actual frys and radioshack stores today, and they only had the screw-in and solder connectors.

Is there any real difference between 16 gauge and the factory Klipsch wires? I saw some 3.5mm extension connectors but wasn't sure if those will cause lose in quality or signal?

the factory klipsch are probably 20 or so gauge.
i don't think any cheap consumer speakers come with 16
but a roll of 16 is cheap, so you might as well.
