Speaker stands for large bookshelf speakers?

I have two Yamaha HS80Ms. They're heavy and quite large. I need adjustable speaker stands (or whatever). Something that will support their large base and keep them secure. Preferably something that won't wobble and has some serious heft to it.

Suggestions? My google searches have failed me.

EDIT: Google prevailed slightly but still failed. Seems most speaker stands are ultra flimsy. :(

I've owned wooden stands and metal ones from Saunus. The metal ones ring when you tap it. People solved that by putting sand it in. I balked. Both are a waste of money. But if I had to do it over again, I'd just make one or find one from Ikea as a starter and modify it to my liking. In fact, small diameter cylindrical SonoTubes from HomeDepot filled with sand at the base would make a great looking IMO stand. Actually cardboard tubes are available from art stores/Micheals. You'll have a basic simple cylindrical stand. Of course, how the base looks will be all up to you.

Concrete blocks and a dark cloth or paint. Bam! Sturdy, "adjustable" speaker stands that won't break the bank.

Yeah, was considering the make my own solution. However, I'd like them to be very adjustable and metal. Much more difficult to work that solution.

why do you need them to be adjustable?

just go find the right height flower pot faux stone pedestal at home depot

plaster ones

what is the dimension of your speakers? These look a bit too small for you.

edit
looked it up, it's 250x390x332mm whd so the platform is too small. And these are not large speakers....

Meh. I bought them anyway. Guy with same speakers is second highest review. Says they work fine.

EDIT: Worst case scenario I modify both platforms and make them bigger, right? Shouldn't be hard to do that.

Do you guys have suggestions on noise isolating blocks of foam? I am not really that invested in buying $40+ blocks of foam. I don't know if it will improve the experience enough.

Where are you putting this foam?

Under the speakers. Didn't want to have any vibration. They shouldn't vibrate much since they're supposed to have anything under 100hz not be played (not only is it turned off on each speaker but the passthrough from my sub is supposed to cut out <= 100hz) but who knows how that goes. Still get some vibration through the speakers here and there when they're on my desk.

I worry about them vibrating the metal stands when they're on there. I can wait until the stands get in and evaluate whether it's a sensible purchase or not.

Speaker on foam = speaker falling.

Use blue tack.

Hi TridenT,

I impulse bought a couple pair of those (well, they look like clones of them from Pyle) because I wanted something adjustable for height adjustment behind an acoustically transparent screen.

I thought they'd be okay with a weight limit of 90 pounds, but found them to be wobbly on carpet with the metal spikes installed. I probably should have just made some, but that can be a project for another day.

I considered the Pyle version. They just had such bad reviews on Amazon though that I couldn't bother. :( I would've liked to save myself about $40 but that's how it goes.
