Speaker stands for a pair of TSC RC1

I'm looking for a pair of budget speaker stands for either my front RC1 or rear P5 speakers. My P5's are sitting on these stands which could be swapped to the front RC1's if need be. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=240-762

I like these cheap 31" stands but the top base is only 5" x 5" which is too small for my 6" x 7" (L x W) speakers. http://www.amazon.com/SANUS-SYSTEMS-...0253736&sr=1-2

A 31" stand would put the tweeter of the front speakers at my ear level when seated. The same company makes a 24" version and its top plate is 6.5" x 6.5". Is that large enough for my speakers and could I shim up the front to angle the tweeter towards my head?

Front speaker dimensions: 6" W x 7" D x 15" H and weighs about 10-12lbs.

Rear speaker dimensions: 6" W x 7" D x 10" H and weighs about 9lbs.

I wouldn't worry about the top base being too small, especially since the speakers you have are pretty lite.

I have a similar situation myself but I have much larger Boston HD10 speakers on stands where the top plate is smaller than the speaker.

I have the Sanus 24" stand you linked above. I use them with Vienna Acoustic's Haydn Grands...which are fairly large bookshelfs which are bigger than the plate and weigh 22 pounds each.

The stands work fine. I used a little sticky tak to keep the speakers secure, which works great. Tweeters are slightly lower than ear level but is close enough for me.

Thanks for your replies. It's good to hear your both in the same situation and it's working for you.

Until I get the stands, is it ok to have the speakers near my plasma tv? There is 1 inch clearance between the bottom of the tv and the speaker. I plan on leaving the center speaker in its current position.
