Speaker Size for In-Wall speakers

So we're going to wall mount our TV and I'm looking at geting some in-wall speakers to handle the sound. This TV is used as a general every day TV and not a dedicated Home Theater TV. We do watch movies at times but that's not the primary use.

Monoprice has in wall speakers in 5 1/4 and 6 1/2 size with a $10 (or so) price difference. I know the bigger they are the louder they can get, but I don't know if I need the larger size or if I'll kick myself if I don't get the bigger size.

Size matters..

I generally go for a bigger driver if I can. Of course this isn't a foolproof method of getting the best quality. But the larger drivers are generally more capable of handling lower frequencies. I wouldn't go below 6" for main speakers. I've got some 8" in wall speakers that I use, they also have a mid driver along with a tweeter.

No reason not to get the bigger ones, unless they simply won't fit. There can be arguments made for smaller speakers when it comes to traditional boxed speakers, as the size of the baffle (the front side of the box, where the drivers are mounted) can affect imaging. However, with in-walls, the baffle is effectively infinite, so there's no point.

You didn't mention whether you're looking at the 2-way or the 3-way. I almost always prefer the way that 2-ways sound. It is a lot easier to mess up the design of a 3-way, and usually they don't provide much benefit, especially at this price point.

Just looking at the 2-way. I'll plan on the 6 inch ones. Definitely don't need the 8s.

2way 6.5" is my favorite for In-walls good happy medium that will give some low end, 5.25" seem to be pretty weak and 8" tend to get muddy sounding in the midrange. the mono price are nice and I also like the Polks when newegg tosses them on big sale a few times a year.

I've got a pair of the 8" monoprice in walls in my basement. I like them but they don't give me as much bass as I wanted. Probably my fault though since they're mounted kind of strangely.
