I'm looking to set up an Apple Airport to stream music from my PC. The thing is, I don't have anything to stream it to yet. Can anyone recommend a good set of speakers for this use? I probably won't be using these speakers for anything else. Looking for something that sounds good AND looks good. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and Happy Thanksgiving.

Budget? Are you trying to fill a whole room or just a single listening position? Looking for good strong bass?

Hey there. It's for a 150 sq ft space, but I live in an apartment with pretty thin walls, so I don't need a lot of volume. Just good fidelity, for what that's worth. I was thinking a two speaker with subwoofer kind of set-up. Would prefer to keep it under $200. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure what would look good for you, but a pretty solid choice for $200 is the Klipsch iFi set if you can still find it at that price.

I like to think these look a little better ;)

It's a 2.0 setup, but should do pretty well on their own without a sub ( and then you have an upgrade path too :p )

Anything specific on what you're looking for in a "good looking" speaker?

I actually really like both sound and appearance of the Klipsch iFi set but it comes with an iPod/nano dock, so I figured it was only for use with those. Can it be used with the airport? Also, a friend of mine told me that the airport doesn't work as well with speakers that have a base unit/receiver sort of thing i.e. anything that's more than just speakers and subwoofer. Not sure where he's getting his info from. Do you know if that's true? Thanks again for the help.

It has an aux input that you can connect to. Seems like a 3.5mm Male-Male cable would work fine for connecting. I've never used an Airport, so I assume it's just giving you a stereo analog signal from the 3.5mm jack. Looking at apple's site, that seems like it should work fine.

I'm not really sure what your friend means. If you can get a good stereo analog / optical PCM stream from the airport, you should be able to connect it to anything. As for not getting good results, the only thing that's coming to mind is maybe if you hook it up to a more elaborate system you start to hear some of the small details and imperfections in the sound that may be associated with the wireless aspect of it or even the original source material? I really don't know what he means.
