Why is it that cable from the back of the speakers to the audio out jack of your PC is 18"? I mean, how much would it cost to make the cable a little longer? I putting together my son's comp (Christmas gift) and the speaker (cheap SoundSource) cable is too short for his tiny, toddler-sized computer desk. Grrrr. I don't want to get expensive speakers for a five-year old. This is the same situation at work where every desktop has a set of speakers and the cable that goes between the right and left is 12", barely enough to get around the monitor. Looks like I'm going to Radio Shack for an extension cable.

Sorry, I haven't experienced this. Usualy, the damn wires are anywhere from 6-18 ft. long and I only need 2 ft.

Buy some cheap wire and splice it in.

Radio Shack also sells stereo minijack extension cables (Female to Male). Buy one, be happy.

I'd rather do it my self then spending more money on an extension (specially if it for a child). Oh well.
