speaker problems

I recently got 2 reg speakers and a subwoofer for my laptop, so i dont' have to listen to crappy music, however, whenever i turn them on, they make this horrible buzzing noise, and it doesn't stop. It never occured before, just after about... say... 6 weeks into it. the subwoofer isn't magnetically shielded from electronic waves and stuff, but the buzzing is coming from the speakers. When I leave one of the speakers plugs out, it plays just fine, but when everything's in, and i turn it on, there goes the buzzing again. Please Help me try to fix this, thanks for your help.

wrong forum, but you'll have to put the speakers further away from your sub i think. or do you have the mic on for the laptop?

hmm..maybe the $30 price tag gave it away?

but then again, some pretty decent logitech/altec lansing speakers are only $30 too.

yeah i dunno, they were totally fine a while ago... but recently the damn buzzing is killing me and my music 🙁

grounding!

make sure the speakers and computer are plugged into the same 3-prong electrical outlet. use a power strip and plug all your computer stuff and the speakers into it. if you get your speakers on a different circuit, you're in for a world 'o buzz.

if that's not it, plug in some headphones to the computer's output and see if it sounds ok. if the headphones sound fine, then i think the ground loop may be internal in the speaker's amplifier. in that case, there's problem not much you can do. you'll need new non-broken speakers. if the headphones buzz too, your computer is the culprit and you need a new sound-ouputting device like a sound card or new motherboard with onboard sound.
