speaker problems

I have a new Boston acoustics 2.1 system. The speakers accidently got disconnected when I was moving the computer, and now only one works. I know that both speakers are good. It seems like maybe a static electricity buildup in the system? What's the best way to correct this?

test the speakers with another device that uses 3.5mm stereo mini-plugs (such as any walkman). If they're fine, test The computer output with a different set of speakers.

Good idea. It's definately not the speakers - they work fine. Should I reinstall/replace the soundcard?
