When I play mp3's with my Labtec pulse 424 speakers i get some static on some songs but not others. There is a small dent on the grill of the right satalite, could that be the problem? I also have a SB live value sound card.

Possibly, are they plugged into the right socket on your sound card? Try them with another PC and if the same thing happens try changing them.

Yea, they're plugged in right, especially when the plugs on my sound card are color coded. Could it be that I have the bass turned up too high?

You might try checking your sound settings in windows. Make sure the MIC is turned off or all the way down.

Let us know what you find.

I have had the mic set on mute. I think the static is pretty much gone ever since i turned down the bass a bit.

In which case it must of been too loud. Never play speakers at full volume, leave a bit free. If you want loud sound then you need expensive powerful speakers.

It is possible that the static is being caused by software.

I recently installed power DVD, which updated my windows media player, and after that I noticed that some applications had static while others did not...

I updated my drivers for my SB X-gamer card, and the problem was fixed.

It's entirely possible that you have stressed that speaker to the point where it simply can't provide a clean sound any more..

These speakers are new and i haven't turned them up loud enough to shake the room(not like they could anyway). Like I said in the beginning, there is a small dent in the metal grill of the right satalite, could that be the problem?
