Installed Win7 x64 RC but now i get no sound out of my rear speakers??? Is this a sound card (on-board) issue? I let windows install the sound drivers but then I went to gigabytes site and downloaded the most recent sound drivers for my mobo. I have the Realtek audio panel (or whatever it's called) and have tried the test tones but no acknowledgment of rear speakers.

I also noticed the sound out of my headphones isn't near as "full" as it was in vista. Not sure if the two are related but the sound out of my front 2 speakers sounds fine.

Speakers are logitech 560's 4.1. Mobo and all other system specs in sig.

been awhile that I had to fiddle with realtek audio, but you can try going into control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound, then click on speakers and click configure, there you check to see if it is setup for your speaker config

2) i do remember in the realtek audio panel some where there is a speaker setup option too. cant remember where it is in there

3)you can try getting the latest drivers from realtek Here for vista and try them.

thanks Dahak, I did get the newest from gigabytes site. Looking at your link it seems they have newer ones just released on the 8th (friday) if i am looking at it right. Download is going terribly slow but I can wait.

2.17KB @ 4hrs to download.

When I go into the windows sound setup I choose quadrophonic (only one that makes sense) and it gives me no test tones out of my rear speakers. Same with Realteks configuration.

For the heck of it I tried 5.1 and it doesn't work either. Then I tried 7.1. Now I get sound out of the rears as well. I guess this might work if I have to leave it that way but I wonder if I'm missing some sound because it thinks I have more speakers then I really do.
