Speaker Placement near Case

Is it safe to put your Speaker System Sub/reciever right next to your case? The sub is supposed to be shielded but I don't know it if trust it next to my HDD all the time.
Anyone know it this placement will cause data corruption or anything

I don't know what kind of sub/receiver you're talking but my Logitech Z560 sub/receiver IS NOT shielded (magnetic). Only the satellites (speakers) are. Do a quick and easy test, move it close to your TV/Monitor, if you see colorful rainbow that means it's emitting magnetic radiation.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible if you do this and the rainbow patterns stay permanently on your TV/Monitor 🙂

For an actual magnet to cause data corruption u would almost have to touch it to the physical disk it is not likely AT ALL for it to do damage.

You won't see any problems as far as your hard drive is concerned, as the magnets don't have a focused field enough to harm you data.

If you are running twisted pair Cat5 next to it, you might notice some degradation, and of course, you could easily hurt your monitor by playing with the 'rainbow patterns' 🙂
