Speaker mixing input signals

Not sure if there is a fix or if my equipment is toast...but on my 5.1 speakers the center and sub signals seem to be mixed. If I do a sound test, playing either sub or center gives me sound in both. If I set either to 0 and then test, whichever was set at zero gives no sound out of either but testing the other gives sound through both. So software seems to be working, seems to be an actual hardware problem. Don't notice any issues with cable quality.

There are so any variables involved it would be hard to say with the info.

Cables wouldn't have anything to do with it, from the sound of things.

Your using onboard 5.1 off a mobo it sounds like ?

yes, realtek audio from an asrock z170 board.

And I mentioned the cables as center and sub are transmitted over same one.

If you're using something like a 5.1 system with computer speakers then, like a Logitech setup, there might be something borked there.

Like I said are a lot of variables, the speakers would matter also.

The Toslink to an AVR to speakers would still work I'd bet, or Coax.

I'm guessing is not an AVR in there either, but still trying to help out.

Some integrated speaker 5.1 computer speaker setup ?

It sounds like it might be your speakers from what you are saying.

Is the first thing I thought of when you mentioned a sub being involved with a center to begin with.
