I'm well aware of unshielded magnets and video displays, but dunno about this...

I have a Marshall 2x12 cabinet. Of course, the cabinet is not shielded. I'm thinking about putting it up side-by-side with one of my systems, and the magnets would be just inches from the side of the computer. Would this have any adverse effects on the machine?

I hope not... my front right speaker is one shelf above my rig, front left is right next to my monitor.

Haven't noticerd any adverse effects, then again i paid £££s for a dolby 5.1 system with a very low noise amp, as I knew i could have this problem.

Well, most audio speakers made over the last 10 years or so are shielded. You should be fine.

Guitar cabinets usually aren't shielded...considering the age of my cab, it definitely isn't shielded.

Mine aren't shielded by a cabinet. The setup is spread over a table with a few shelves, lol.

Tbh, you should be fine. I don't think you can get high enough voltages or currents through speakers (considering my amp will do a max impedance of 6ohms per speaker) to damage hardware. I don't recommend having a speaker TOUCHING any component though, like the monitor or case.

I would keep it a safe distance away. I had a friend once who went through 3 hard drives until and found out it was because he kept 2 unshielded speakers near his PC. By "Marshall Cabinet" are you meaning guitar amp / speakers? if so then def keep them away from your computer.

Speakers = magnets (unless they say explicitly that they are shielded) and hard drives are magnetic. Don't mix the two unless you are positive the speakers are good and shielded.

Just my 2c.

It won't matter at all. There is no way speaker magnets can affect hard drives. You can take the magnets out of the speaker and rub them on the hard drive and it will do nothing. If you've ever taken apart a hard drive, you will find some of the strongest magnets you will ever see are used to move the drive accuator.

magnets field strength drops extremely rapidly with distance. something squared or something,me mind is rusty. u need to be 1mm from the platter of a disc and sh*t to do anything
