speaker issues on my toshiba m50

i can play music fine, but when I play Orange Box or play anything from the internet (you tube, or any site that has sound) all I get is screeching and static. This happened while I was playing Orange Box. My computer automatically rebooted on its own and then it started having this problem. The problem just isn't the speaker because it also occurs when I use headphones. Did I mess up some codec or something?
