I'm in the market for new computer speakers. Don't want to spend much, but I'll be hooking these things up to a SB Audigy Platinum. I have been referred to the JBL line, specifically the creatures, but I just noticed the invaders. I know it's hard to compare a 2.1 to a 4.1 system, but which would be better? Does JBL make an affordably priced 5.1 system?

Harmon Inc (JBL) just released the Encounter 5.1 &2.1 Speakers which I assume is out of your price range so I would consider getting the 2.1's you mentioned now (if your ears like them) then saving for another set later or even adding on a another set of 2.1's later on.

They are a bit expensive, but even when I search on amazon, it doesn't appear that they've hit circulation yet. What about the invaders? I've heard very good things about the creatures, has anyone heard the invaders? Does anyone recommend a system I haven't looked into?

Don't know your price range but I've seen the Logitech Z-560's (4.1's)on sale @ B&M's for under $130 and they kicka$$...

I've heard really great things about alot of these 4.1 systems, but I'm hesitant about them, because EVERY speaker system I've heard recently has had a pathetic center level. You have to get blasted out listening to most movies, and then you can barely hear the dialogue coming through the center. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

What is your price range. Logitech Z340's are great speakers for the price (about $30).

My max would be 150. Ideally, I'd like a great 5.1 (digital) system, but I know that's too much to ask for that price. I'm running an SB Audigy platinum, so anything that goes well with a multi-out soundcard. I've been referred several times to JBL, and I'm starting to get some votes for Logitech as well

Any comments about Altec Lansing? I just noticed their ADA995 5.1 system. Anyone ever heard these?

Just noticed the above AL speakers are designed for dell computers, and only have vol control through an enhanced keyboard and santa cruz software. Would this be a problem for a non-dell system?

Go 4.1 digital. Audigy Platinum supports digital. Cambridge fsp2000 are 4.1 digital and sound great. Digital beats anything analog, even 5.1 analog.

I wish you had posted before my fifteen bumps...due to lack of input to this thread, I already purchased the logitech z-560's. Those cambridge soundworks look nice, but they've only got 53 watts total output power opposed to 400 watts on the logitech. I do like the idea of having a digital system, but is it something I'll really notice?
