thanks, now..

i have a logitech z-5500 sound system, and my sub is pretty much my reciver type thing, where all the speakers run into.

it has those flexi clip things on the back of it for each speaker.

my question is, can i run two wires out of each of the clips..

like run two wires for front, left, right, rear right and rear left...

but the speakers would only be hooked up to one of them at a time.

i want to make it so i can just unclip and move my speakers from my desk, over to my wall next to my screen so i can watch movies with surround sound instead of having the speakers on my desk next to me. but i dont want to have to re-wire my room everytime i do that.

is it ok to have two lines running out of each port on my sub/amp...but only have one hooked up?

would i lose power?

if you are confused ill make ip a crude ass drawing in photoshop

What about using just the speaker wire?

EDIT: didn't see your last post, reading now

EDIT2: If the speaker system is only z-5500s, getting a bunch of those monstercable connections would probably be a waste. $20/pair? Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're planning, you'd have two for each speaker location, and two sets of locations for a total of 10 pairs of those connectors = $200?

im gonna have the speakers mounted on my wall when i go to watch movies, and im gonna snake the speaker wire through my wall, and i dont want an open wire sticking out of my wall when i have my speakers on my desk, it looks ugly lol

Just a thought here then... get a second set of z-5500s for about $220 and never have to move them?

So are you going to take the speakers off the wall and put then around your PC and vice versa every time you want to use them?

how about don't get the monster connectors and sell the z5500, and use the money saved towards the new logitech speakers. i forgot the exact model but it is one model higher than the z5500 and the speakers are wireless.

edit: these speakers

yea because my projector takes like 10 minutes to get to full brightness, so while thats getting up there, i can move my speakers,

but the question is still unanswered...

will there be a performance loss if i have a cable thats leading to nothing coming out of my sub?

it will probably take the same amount of time to move the speakers, wireless or not.

i just need to run 2 wires,

its not worth an extra 150 bucks

The rear speakers still have to be plugged into wall outlets, the front speakers still have to be connected with speaker wire, and the quality on them is closer to the z-5300s than the z-5500s from what I can tell.

i don't really understand your question. "a cable leading to nothing?" but if you're asking whether those monster connectors will make a difference in sound quality, the answer is no.

Wow, 10 minutes? Mine's more like 1.

As far as running two sets of wires from the sub, I haven't tried it but I imagine it would be fine. It's not like there's going to be current flowing through it.

You should only have one set of wires running to your speakers. If you want to use your speakers for more than one app, then you should either

a. have the two different sources through a amp

or

b. buy another set of speakers for your pc.

I'm not being smart, I'm just telling you if you start 'doubling up' on output sources from your speakers, you're asking for trouble.

i am only gonna have one set of wires running to each speakers, but im going to have another set of wires running to the other side ofr my room, where i can move my speaker too

and i wanst looking at those moster things fro quality, they just look nice and id rather have them hanging out of my wall then an open wire..

have you considered mounting a speaker binding post wall plate? Text i think these will look a lot better than just hanging wires. they are also 5-way binding post, which means they are more versatile and will accept banana connectors.

i actually have looked into those, then i relized i rather just drill a quick hole and put the wire through, put the monster cap on it, and then put a rubber seal of somehting around the hole to make it look nice, instead of putting that big thing on my wall, becuase if i ever want to my my screen i can do a quick spakle job instead of cutting new sheet rock.
