in short time we are going to be getting a bunch of money (won a lawsuit took 6 fricken years sigh). so we are going to get a new HT setup. well at least TV and speakers.

my reciver is pioneer VSX D412. we are thinking of getting new speakers to replace the old crappy ones we have. My wife really liked the sound of these

is that reciver going to be good enough? really don't want to buy a new reciver (or speakers actually. but wife wants new ones) if i don't have to.

also thinking of getting this subwoofer and they had some sourrond sound speakers that matched it.

It sounds like you are not going for a top notch system so "mix and match" can work. You'll get better sound/effects with matched or nearly matched speakers. This is especially true across the front/center/front for HT. For music it doesn't matter as much.
Have you looked at HT sets?

looking at around $1500 for speaker setup. will go higher if need to but do not want to go over 2k.

if it was up to me i would just keep what i have. BUT the wife wants a better setup. she really liked the sound of the klipsh ones i linked. they also had the subwoofer and sourrond sound speakers that matched it. so only thing that would not be in it is the Center speaker i have.

Just go with what she wants. It'll be easier on both of you in the long run and maybe sound better than what you have now.
Plus, if she wins this one maybe she'll let you get that 64" plasma you always wanted. ;)

Part of my wonderfull settlement is I couldnt file for that for 2 1/2 years or the good old uncle sam would dip his hands into my settlement, if that happened we wouldnt of been able to afford this house were in or pay off everything that needed to be paid off to pull us out of the hole we got thrown into because of my injury and them taking their sweet ass time with me (took 3 1/2 years and we settled out of court had I went for the full it would of gone on for 10+).

Dec 24 2007 (yup this year) is the end of the 2 1/2 year wait when I can finally file for SSI, get a real income into the house once again and have real insurance on me and my family. I will be applying next month for I know they will deny me 3 times and will end up getting a lawyer which by that time it happens it should be near the 24th of dec so when I have the lawyer handle it, hopefully, we wont have to wait much longer and I can sit back and breath and not have to have a heart attack worrying about money and if the state if going to pull the rug from under us making us homeless. Walking a very fine thin line as it is right now, just one flub up, wife gets sick or injured and we are super screwed. The 24th cannot get here fast enough for me.

Well if that be the case I will be dead by that time for the state has taken us off welfare and we are on a "Justation" period right now. Insurance on the entire family will be no more as of feb 08, I am on over 12 different pills that if I had to buy them would almost cost $500-$800 a month. Where my wife works they do not offer insurance and even if they did we wouldn't be able to afford it, not just on me but for any of them, so if I have to wait that much longer it wont be long after our insurance and Im out of pills I'll be dead. At that point my wife and kids will be able to get on government assistance again because she will be a widow with kids and a single parent, she will have all the assistance she needs given to her no questions asked, but while Im still here and disabled they dont care as long as I am alive were fvcked. Hate to think that way I guess but in a way it will work out best for my family no matter which way it turns out, would like to be around, but in death if I can do more for them so be it. And what blows is the government is set up this way, yeah they now Im fvcked, they know I cant do sh1t, between my back and my other mental and physical conditions, but because my wife works we are punished for it and have the insurance taken away. They know with her making $6 something a hour for a family of 4 that we cannot afford insurance, or the meds they know full well I am on keeping me alive and here, but it doesnt matter, I called and was told OH well your wife is working more then 80 hours a month, by law thats too much to keep you insured, we know she brings home $900 a month and your pills is so much and insurance is so much and just on that alone puts you in the red but kiss our ass, if you die your wife can re-apply and she and your kids will qualify for these programs and these government grants though.

Pifft, 3-5 years huh, OH well, maybe I should start taking up smoking pot and other things I never did and try them before I go since it looks like I got about a year left.

Matching the front three speakers is much more important than getting the same brand for surrounds and sub.

If you can get a center to match, that would give you a better experience. You could keep using a pair of your current speakers as surrounds probably.

That's great that you went out and listened to stuff. If you wanted an online alternative that sounded somewhat similar, Axiom might be a good thing to look at. They would tend to have kind of a brighter sound like Klipsch tends to have.

I wouldn't go with a Klipsch sub though. How big is the room you're trying to fill?

If there's nothing wrong with your receiver now, I'd say just keep that going. Unless you feel you need more connection options and such, don't bother.

Unless you have really high ceilings, something along the lines of an SVS PB10 or one of the similarly priced HSU models would be a good bet for a sub as an alternative to Klipsch. If you can get some sort of package deal going with an all Klipsch setup, then by all means go ahead and to that. If you're paying full price for the sub, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
