SPDIF Set up

I have a Soyo Dragon+ mobo and I'm using the built in C-Media hardware for spdif out. I have a Sony 16x DVD rom with the the digital cable running to the cd_spdif on the mobo, and I'm using Boston Acoustics BA735 speakers. These speakers only have an spdif in connector. When I first tried them out I had a signal, but after I placed them where I really wanted them and connected everything back up - nada! I've tried just about everything I can think of, including reinstalling the drivers. Any suggestions on how to get these speakers working would be greatly appreciated.

did you go to sound properties and enable spdif and adjust volume?
is sound enabled in bios?ie... onboard sound enabled?
are you positive the wiring is setup correctly?
am i correct in assuming that the drivers you are refering to are for onboard sound?
any other sound card in computer?if so is it disabled?

these are the obvious and may not be your problem but ruling them out makes diagnosis easier.

hope this helps
