i did an emissions test on my car, and it turns out that (when in idle) i have an high amount of gas that is not being fired when in the combustion chamber.
one way im told to fix this problem is to change your spark plugs. i know for 240s you need a tool to reach the plugs, so im gunna get one.
are there some plugs better then others? are there ones designed for a v4? anything important I should know?

No special v4 plugs AFAIK.

I would just get the average run of the mill plugs, should be really cheap. Make sure you get the gapping tool and gap them properly for your engine (you should find this info in your maintainance manual, or ask the guy at the auto shop and they should be able to look it up).

Expect to be lambasted for referring to it as a V4 ;)
You should probably just go with stock replacement plugs.

chiltons or haynes manual
all plugs need a tool, its just a wrench socket that sticks down far and has rubber inside the socket area so it goes around and holds onto the whole spark plug so u can lift it out.
and yes anti seize/dielectric grease required. 99cents packets at the local car parts shop.
tighten with care so you don't strip out the threads. i just take the wrench attachment off and thread it by hand with that, others use a pieces of rubber hose. tighten by holding onto the head of wrench isntead of handle so u wont strip the threads.
gap, the gap tool is another dollar, or free:p i've never had to use it since it seems all the plugs i buy are pregapped just right already. not that its hard, u just yank or push until its right with whats in the manual.
the local carshop will sell u the wrench socket thing, the spark plugs are cheap, atleast at kragen they are always about 2bucks, with 1 dollar rebate:p you gotta change em every 30k miles.

Wow, nobody has mentioned this yet?

Make sure your engine is *COOL* before you do your plugs, or you might end up wrecking the threading in your block (particularly if it's aluminum).
