Somehow I dont trust a passive cooler on a 680.
Id slap a fan on there too just to be safe lol.

680s have a peak around 230-240watts (depending on model).
Thats ALOT for a passive cooler.

At the very least, Id think the Cabinet needed good airflow, if you where to put one of these in it.

Colorful has a real passive cooler design. Its a 20 heatpipe monster that looks way too heavy for 2 screws and a pcie slot to hold it in place without ripping off from the mb.

That card is not passively cooled. It has fans. This approach was already tried on the Gainward GTX680 and it turned out to be very disappointing wrt to quiet noise levels.

GTX680 is not really an upgrade from an 1100mhz 7950. $490 for a 1 year old GPU sounds like a waste of $ as well imo. If you got money to burn, just get the Titan.

Well, that's unfortunate.

Yeah, I read into some of the reviews and it's still actively cooled. It's not about the upgrade from the 7950... it's the pursuit of silence!

That colorful 680 looks interesting... the weight shouldn't be a problem if your mother board is horizontal...
