skim milk

Diamond Member
no, not females.. I wish

I can't decide if I should take (learn) spanish or japanese. (planned to take both but didnn't work out)
My only motive for taking spanish is because I'm going to Chile in 2 years during a summer so by then, I hope to somewhat knowledgeable in the language
I also have some hispanic friends

As for Japanese, well it's Japanese. Everybody and their mom wants to learn japanese.

Take the one that's more useable in your situation, in this case spanish... (I thought portuguese was the national language of Chile?)

But, Japanese is always easy , until grammar and kanji comes along.

Really?

My grandfather will have nothing to do with Japanese. Probably because he was under their colonial rule during WW2. 😛

Everybody and their mom wants to learn Japanese?

More like every anime nerd and his mom.

I'd learn Spanish, its gonna be useful with this influx of hispanic immigrants.

QFT. I bet that every person voting Japanese is Japanese.

🙁 I am. But when I was in HS, everyone and their mother took spanish, as it was perceived to be "the easiest". There were about a half-dozen spanish classes, 2-3 french, and 1 Japanese. I didn't want "easy" and I didn't want to do the same as everyone else.

well, Japanese is borderline worthless unless you are going to live in Japan or conduct business with japanese speakers on a regular basis. (I'd like to learn Japanese as well, but can't justify the time it would take right now)

deffinately spanish... especially since you are oging to live in chile

You're Viet right?

It was easier for me, coz I was made to choose between spanish and german. And german is not easy at all...not at all...

The dilemma is, if you have no interest in learning a language, then you're not gonna learn it. With Spanish, at least you're gonna need it and have to use it eventually. Japanese is a great language and I love it, but if you have no motivation to learn it and keep up with it, then you're wasting your time. Unfortunately for me, I don't know any Japanese people, nor do I ever go to Japan. So in my case, I have to constantly review things so I don't forget everything.

Take Spanish, it will be more useful for you considering your trip to Chile.

Mainly.. I'm mixed with some chinese, and French (barely any, it's like recessive)...

I learned Spanish because I thought I would use it more than French. But nope. haven't gotten much chance to use it at all.

Ingles Por Favor.
Espanol, Si.
Dos Tacos, burrito, y Pepsi. ?seis dineros? !Ay Caramba!

people say spanish is soo much more useful, but honestly, most people won't use it all that much more than they would japanese. They won't use either at all, but instead use English, the language that other people almost always seem to learn as their second language if it isn't already their first. Anyways, speaking Japanese and reading hiragana/katakana is pretty easy, kangji gets annoying, but after awhile, you slowly learn

anyways, I think I'll vote for Spanish, since it seems at least somewhat useful for people who live in CA, IL, TX, FL, or Mexico

thanks fritolays

I took 4 years of French in h.s.... what a waste that was.

I should've taken spanish instead but I opted for the much smaller classes.
