2:50 AM early Tuesday my cell phone beeps that I have a text message. It's a fvcking ad for some website from a bogus sender.

Just got another one 10 minutes ago pushing the same site.

Has anyone else gotten spam on their cell?

The website in question is www.theymonitoryou.com. These bastards even have a removal form www.theymonitoryou.com/remove.htm. Trolling to confirm more cell numbers...unbelievable.

Their IP address is 69.13.86.211. That IP block is owned by www.cihost.com and I have fired off an e-mail to their abuse department. I've also notified my cell phone carrier. What else can I do?

Update #1 - Spammers site taken down. What a loss... :)

Update #2 - SPAM THE SPAMMER!

Okay, so I went digging...

www.theymonitoryou.com is down.

theymonitoryou.com is still up...

theymonitoryou.com also resolves to www.jamesbowen.cihost.com.

I think the spammer may have a name...

Here is a duplicate site:

www.tvpopular.com

Among other info, it lists a phone number: (401) 954-7827

This is a Sprint PCS number. Here is the site to send text messages to Sprint PCS users. Feel free to send this spammer a friendly greeting or two.

Continue bitchin' ?:D

Seriously though, find out who THEIR carrier is and yell at them too.

I know, I was bitching... but I am entitled once in a while! Afterall, what is ATOT for??

As for their carrier, they don't have/need a wireless carrier to deliver SPAM.

Everybody with a cell phone from a major carrier has an e-mail address associated with their number. A message sent to that address will be recieved as an SMS. So these bastards can simply blast out e-mails that will be delivered to the handsets, all with spoofed return addresses.

The one that doesn't charge... By that respect, I am not inconvenienced financially. However, a wakeup call at 1:00 or 3:00 AM is horribly unacceptable. And turning my phone off or on silent is not an option.

That site will be down soon...

Not completely true :) If you have a spint phone with vision that used shortmail instead of SMS for text messages, then you don't pay for the messages. Sure, you pay for vision, but the messages are all free :)

If you have sprint you can simply block out a domain. I don't know anyone that e-mails to my cell phone so if I start getting more spam I'll just block out yahoo or msn or whatever the domain is.

I had something like that happen too late at night.

The thing that sucks the most is every SMS I get, I have to pay 2c so it actually costs me money when they spam my phone.
