is there a spam killer program that goes into your pop3 mail, and kills the spam, then leave the rest in there to be viewed with your regular email program later?

is that even possible?

Doesn't that prgram just let you preview it though, and not automatically kill Spam?

Close though!

No, you just hold down the ctrl key and click the emails that you don't want with the mouse curser and then hit the delete button and it deletes them off the server (the emails that You don't want never make it to your system)... Then You start your pop3 prog and get the emails that you didn't delete... It has other neat features too... Try it, it does exactly what you want.

Thunderbird rocks! :)

But otherwise, SpamAssassin is very good as a proxy too.

Thunderbird is an open source, cross platform mail client based on the Gecko engine, and is a spin off of the original Mozilla Mail client, but optimized for speed and user friendliness.

Yes, there is a Windows version, and you can get it (0.2 milestone build) here

Just unzip it and run it, no installation needed, a profile will be automatically created :)

That is quite a nice little program. I am hoping for basically the same thing, but one step further. I want a prog that looks at the mail and decides what's spam and kills it on the server without my interventon, o maybe highlight all the spam and I can approve the deletion.

I get hundreds of Sapm messages a day, so a manual method is too much..

HumbleFish, glad you are, its a really nice little mail program with a built in spam filter. You do have to "train" it though since its Bayesian, but after a 1-2 days of telling it what's spam and what's not, it pretty much picks up 95% of the spam.

I'm with Nohr. Mailwasher Pro 3.1 is outstanding! Also look at ChoiceMail. The best I have every used is good old AOL. You can set up a choice there that absolutely, automatically DAEMONs all email that comes from anyone not on your authorized list. I have never gotten any Spam in that (my travel backup) mailbox - $4.95 a month variety. :)
