I've finally started getting spam on my regular account recently and to say the least it is disheartening. I have been trying to keep it safe for about 2 1/2 years now, but somehow it leaked and it is basically over.

My question is this. I notice that it is one company moxi0.com which is sending me most of the mail. They are obviously some sort of mass mailer company, and they certainly know my email address is valid, meaning there is no end in site (though I will probably block their domain soon). But in a situation like this, should I try to unsubscribe from their list, or should I ignore it, knowing very well that if I try to unsubscribe that that is only fodder for them to send more.

I would feel comfortable unsubscribing to a large company like BB, but for small companies, their usually hacks and I wouldn't. What are your suggestions?

I would suggestion you DO NOT attempt to unsubscribe. Just block the domain and be done with it.

FWIW, I know what you mean about feeling disheartened when your main email account starts getting spammed - I've had my primary account for about 3 years and spam was never a problem until about 12 months ago when I got my first spam and it has been gradually increasing ever since :(

Spammers = :evil: :disgust: :frown:

About 1 year ago, I created an email on my ISP provider, a regular POP3 account. Immediatly I started receiving spam all over the place. I do believe someone had used that account earlier, then got tired of so much spam, and canceled the account ... now I came to collect all his/her garbage left!

I have NIS 2003 installed, and he basically marks them like spam, adding "spam:" before the subject. It helps identifying about 60% of spam emails.

The origin email addresses are various, so I cannot block a specific domain ... so I have to massively select-delete all of them!

And as you can imagine, the contents of those emails sometimes are quite disturbing ...

Once I tryed to unsubscribe them, since much of them had a link at the end of the email, for that purpose. They slowed a bit, but after a while they've grown again.

Spam svcks! :frown:
