As the title says tonight 8:27 est from Vandenberg AFB. No booster landing :(

What's cool when all the 75 iridium next satellites have been launched this will be part of the low latency, hi speed internet that will be offered. I mentioned this in my retirement thread about where to live. I wanted a place where I could still partake in online games where low latency is needed but be out in the wilds somewhat. This means we could live just about anywhere not just near some locked landline internet.

https://techcrunch.com/2017/12/22/watch-spacexs-last-falcon-9-rocket-launch-for-2017/

"SpaceX is launching its last mission of 2017 later today, with a planned launch window of 5:27 PM PST (8:27 PM EST). The mission is for client Iridium, and will send a fourth set of 10 satellites into low Earth orbit for Iridium’s NEXT constellation, which will eventually consist of 75 satellites launched by SpaceX in total.

SpaceX is launching the Falcon 9 for Iridium-4 from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base, where it has its Space Launch Complex 4E. It’ll be the 18th launch of a Falcon 9 for SpaceX this year – but it won’t include a recover attempt for the first stage, as the launch requirements include configuring the Falcon 9 used to be expended during the launch process.

The Falcon 9 first stage booster being used for the mission has been used before, however – it was flown during Iridium-2, the second mission that Spacex flew for this client, which took place in June. That means this rocket was turned around and ready for re-use in just six months."

I could imagine if you knew nothing about the launch which is the majority of people seeing this could freak you out.

yeah LA got a hell of a show

Really good shots of MECO, Second Stage Startup, Fairing maneuvering, first stage maneuvering

Probably just a trick of video but damn that plane at .34 looks to be flying pretty damn close to the path of the rocket. If it is as close as it looks I would have thought they'd clear a hell of a lot more airspace than that.

Elon is going to be bigger than Ford and Edison. We are going to build a statue of Elon when he passes. Why? Because when we f*k up this amazing planet and we can't live on it anymore, Elon and his inventions will save humanity.

Anyone buy the new Rolling Stone magazine with Elon on the front cover? Amazing, IMO. I used to watch and look up to pro athletes. Not anymore. Now, it's guys like Elon, Steve Jobs and many of the young inventors who will transform mankind for the better.
