Hi Paratus,
In the first link, it doesn't appear that both of the large sets of panels are tracking the sun ... what's up with that?

Good eye!


That shot was taken right after the shuttle undocked. Due to the fragile nature of the arrays we have to feather them anytime the shuttle is using it's thrusters. Feathering reduces the mechanical loading and erosion of the solar arrays.

The arrays are paper thin. They fold up from over 100 feet down to 6 inches.
