Use search...there are only a zillion threads asking the same question.

It's remarkably helpful...& yes you should install it.

You can do it either way...if you don't mind doing the slipstream/have the know-how, then do that.

Otherwise, you'll be fine just adding it later.

Do i have t o slip stream it to have no problems?

Think about that for a second. If microsoft designed it to screw up when you don't slipstream it then everyone would have to reinstall windows to get the service pack. The vast majority of people using xp don't even know how to reinstall windows.

can i add SP2 before any other programs and then have it work?

No, you must install at least one program first, or nothing will work at all. Ever.

Should I install SP2 or not?

Come back with a more pointed question. People don't come here to make your decisions for you.

Well I installed SP 2 to a copy of XP I had had running GREAT for a LONG time. It screwed it up, I tried to fix it, it screwed it up more, I tried to restore and it toasted the whole thing.
I did a fresh install doing ALL the updates first thing, and I have had NO problems. AFAIK sp 2 is EVIL unless you do it to a fresh install.

I don't know jack about computers, but I do know that I have XP. I got SP2 on a CD. I made sure that I had a clean PC(adaware, spybot), updated my anti-virus program, ran a scan, it was clean. Defragged my C drive, made a restore point, rebooted my PC, then installed SP2. It took about 20 minutes, and I don't see any problems in the 3 weeks I've used it. I have no idea what slipstream is.

The only question I have is now when I go to some sites the videos load in my browser, it used to be that ms player would pop up and the video would play there. When I checked the properties is said it was media player 9, my default player is ms player6. I don't like that, but I don't know if it's due to SP2 or not. This happens in Firefox.

I say install it if you don't have a bunch of Kazaa, bonzoi buddy, coolwebsearch-related spyware and such. Otherwise get rid of that stuff first.
